Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Deadline: March 2, 2015

What is FAFSA? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, loans, and work-study. The FAFSA is also used to apply for most states and college aid, in addition to some privates financial aid.

JANUARY 1, 2015 is the first day you can start working on your FAFSA. Although the FAFSA becomes available in early December, no forms are accepted by the Department of Education until after January 1. FAFSA is an important application that you must submit if you are planning to go to any college (community college, four-year college or university, career or technical school, in-state or out-of-state).  You must submit the FAFSA on time in order for the federal government and for your college to determine how much money they can give you to help you pay for your education.
