Biography

        Raised in San Diego, Kristen Volk discovered her love, appreciation and passion for dance at a young age. She has trained the past 22 years in the styles of jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern, tap and hip hop. She attended Chapman University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, a minor in Liberal Studies along with her multiple subjects teaching credential. She received an academic and talent scholarship, and was recognized in 2008, 2009, 2010 as the departments outstanding performer.

       Throughout her dance career she has performed various times in the Jimmy Defore’s Pulse Concert, LA Project Dance, Carnival, alongside Christian vocal artist; Nick Britt, and as a guest performer in various company concerts, including the works of Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company . She has also performed in numerous festivals such as the International Palm Desert Festival: Dancing Under the Stars and American College Dance Festival. She is in her tenth year working for United Spirit Association where she has received the opportunity to travel and teach in multiple locations across the world including Japan and Mexico City.

         She is honored to be apart of Long Beach based, RhetOracle Dance Company for the past four years and is thankful to dance alongside friends she considers family.  Recognized in the dance world as a dedicated, passionate and well respected teacher, choreographer and performer; Kristen continues to travel around the world to set choreography, judge, perform and teach master classes to students of all ages. She is excited to be apart of the Grand Arts Faculty and is looking forward to sharing her love of dance with the students.
