The dance department uses the California Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards to guide instruction. Our curriculum is designed to help students achieve proficiency in dance technique, dance history, cultural traditions in dance, dance creation, and analysis.

While we currently provide a large variety of dance courses for students to choose from, all dance academy students are required to take the following classes: Ballet (3 years), Modern Dance (2 years), Choreographic Process (1 year).

Ballet:

Male
Black tights
Fitted black shorts or leggings
Fitted solid black or solid white T-shirt
Black ballet shoes

Female
Black or flesh-toned tights
Black leotard
Black ballet skirt (optional)
Black or flesh-toned ballet shoes
 

Modern/Jazz/Dance Rec/Musical Theater:

Bottoms
(any of the following items are acceptable)
Jazz pants
Fitted leggings 
Fitted dance shorts 
Fitted capris

Tops
